About The Asian Wildboar Tusker

Turkey is a 814.578 km2 land situated as a natural bridge between the two continents Asia and Europe.

Turkey is surrounded on three sides by the Black Sea, Marmara , Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. So different climatic situations occure on different parts of the country. Naturally a variety of flora structure covers the country. The majority of human population is piled in and around the cities where the rural inhabitance and human density is much lower. Turkey is a Muslim country and pork meet is not consumed. Only in means of agricultural protection and to a small extend some driven hunts organized by the local hunters takes place. Therefore the human pressure on wildboars is at it's minimum. The only remaining enemy of the young wildboar are the wolves.

There are no fenced game reserves and all wildboars are free ranging.

Once the young male grows enough to part from the herd, he has all this heaven of limitless land and food for him to grow old in the coming years.

When density of wildboar populations are taken in to consideration, the outstanding tusker potential is obviously very high. As a result of suitable climate and food availability, these boars with strong and healty genes ranege a weight of 150-300 kg. and an approximaty of 20-30cm. tusks.

The food chain of the Asian Wildboar consists of chesnut, hazelnut, walnut, mais, rice, acorn, all sorts of fruits, sugar bead, chickpea, clover, weat, rye, barley, potato, watermelon and even pistacio.

Due to this great span of food variety it consumes, it’s character also shows some differecies according to the region they live on. e.g. at the Eastern Anatolia where we organize some of our winter wildboar hunts, since the earth freezes early in winter evenings, the Asian Wildboars go out of the bushes for their evening feist before it is even dark. This enables us to spot them in the very wide open land and sneak in to the shooting range and hunt them.

Another thing we discovered, hunting Asian wildboars for many years for ourselves and than organizing the hunts for our clients is that, the tusk lenght and width differances according to the land structure they live on. In some regions the tusk's roots are slightly longer than the protruding outer part, while in some places the roots may be 2 even 3 times the size of the outer part. With some the tusks are thin and long and with some short but very thick.The ages of the sturdy big tuskers we hunt varies between 7-15 years old.
